Decorating on a Budget

Congratulations! You just bought a new house –it’s time to put your own personal touches on the house and decorate so that your house becomes a home. However, chances are you’re probably cash strapped right now. Afterall, the decorating budget is often the last to receive funds.

You can, though, decorate on a budget and still have a beautiful home. Here are some tips to get your home looking the way you want it, without breaking the bank.

1.       Visit thrift stores. You may be surprised at the awesome things you’ll find at a thrift store. You know the old say, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” A thrift store is a great place to find furniture, odds and ends, and even paintings.

2.       Repurpose what you already have. Sometimes you already have everything you need right in your house. All it takes is some new fabric or a coat of paint to make an old piece new again. If you have a sofa that’s still in good condition, consider adding new pillows or putting a slip cover on it to give it new life. Get a can of spray paint and suddenly a picture frame or a mirror looks great in your new house.

3.       Get crafty. You can create your own art or decorative pieces just by getting in touch with your artist side. Grab some canvas and acrylic paint or fabric from your local craft store and you’ll have new art in no time.

You don’t have to spend a fortune in order to make your new home lovely. How will you decorate your home?
